Quest: Secret/Surprise Character

Finally, my exams are over yesterday and that means I can work on my secret character. =X
Actually I have already been sorta working on it during my study week anyways. My intention is to make whatever I can before my holidays are over (End of Dec)... and boy did I learn something.
SG does not carry alot of materials which I need!! And that is totally infuriating!
See, I needed EVA foam for my armor pieces and guess what? I had a hard time finding it in SG. I wanted those tiled kind which you use as a floor mat and they were pretty cheap on US websites but none shipped to SG. So in the end, I did managed to buy EVA foam off eBay but it was in the form of camping mat and it didn't carry the color I want (and it cost $23). What's even worst, after that, I found out that there is a shop in Beach Road that carries it for $7 or less.... T__T
Never mind that, next was iridescent cellophane! This is virtually impossible to find in SG. I vaguely remember it being sold in gift shops years ago but apparently they have stopped! I even went to all the major craft shops/gift shops/florists, contacted factories (in China which offered me US$40/4m thanks but no thanks), contacted wholesalers and to no avail. Even shipping it from US is out of the question since the damn roll costs US$3 but the shipping costs a whopping US$58. Ultimately, I give up for good. And since the cellophane was for wings - which frame I had already made - I ended up paying alot to get the entire wings itself.
So much for wanting to cut costs and making it myself!!! Oh well, next I have to look for a probably impossible to find item, Sharpies, to color my wig.
Seems like finding (such) stuff in SG is a major quest itself.
